Keep an eye on the Official YouTube Channel as you never know when something new may pop up, such as this video recently uploaded by III - an impromptu jam from The Haunted Ranch with members of Sourvein and Earthride after a show in Nashville - and no, this is NOT the stoner/doom project Attention Deficit Domination (A.D.D.) that III also has in store for the future:

With his own new label, Hank3 Records, and the sense that he has thrown off the chains holding him back creatively, Shelton Hank Williams III, aka Hank3, is coming out swinging this year with the release of four records on September 6 - that's right - FOUR.

The unprecedented launch, in a distribution partnership with Megaforce Records (MRI), features a broad range of music that bridges more than one head-thumping genre - a familiar theme that true Hank3 fans have embraced for years. Ghost to a
Ghost/Guttertown, a double-album set, is a straight-shooting country collection, flavored with Hank3's trademark hellbilly sound, and heavily weighted with Cajun influence (especially on Guttertown) and an ambient, lonesome mood - and a few very special guests.

Two more releases are Attention Deficit Domination and 3 Bar Ranch Cattle Callin - intensely metal-driven records on which Hank3 plays all instruments. Attention Deficit Domination is a pressure-dropping, doom rock statement that has been anticipated by his hardcore fans for years, and Cattle Callin explores a new mind-bending "Cattle Core" sound, featuring Hank3's speed metal woven in and around actual cattle auctioneering.

All three projects were recorded at The Haunted Ranch, Hank3's home and studio that lies on the outskirts of Nashville - a fitting place since the town has never really known what to do with this grandson of the American icon. He finally parted ways with Curb Records January 1.

"I have musical freedom. I'm able to say 'Here's my record' and I don't have to go through a million different channels just to put out a song," he says. "It's all me now."

Hank3 wrote the lion's share of the songs that appear on the 30-track Ghost to a Ghost. The players are Andy Gibson on steel guitar and banjo, who also aided in its recording, David McElfresh on fiddle and mandolin, Zach Shedd on standup bass, Daniel
Mason on banjo, super-picker Johnny Hiland on guitar, Billy Contreras on fiddle, and Rory Hoffman on accordion.

Guest appearances include the mythical Tom Waits on the haunted "Fadin Moon" from Guttertown and on the Ghost to a Ghost title track, Alan King of Hellstomper, Les Claypool of Primus fame and beyond, Dave Sherman, Troy Medlin and Hank3's dog,

Cuts such as "Guttertown," "Ridin The Wave," and "The Devil's Movin In" on Ghost to A Ghost, and "Goin to Guttertown," "The Low Line," and "I'll Save My Tears" on Guttertown highlight both the excellent musicianship on the records, and Hank3's
unmistakable, confident vocals.

Attention Deficit Domination allows the listener into Hank3's crunching, metal world of the heavy and the slow, complete with his renowned, fundamental percussion. The nine tracks hardly allow you to get up from the floor. With songs such as "I Feel Sacrificed" and the tormented "Livin Beyond Doom," Hank3 works a ground somewhere between devastation and high theatre.

"Both A.D.D. and Cattle Callin are very intense. It's very manic," Hank3 says. "It's hard to follow, even for the guys I play with. I'm playing everything on these two. It's very complex."

There are 23 tracks on Cattle Callin, featuring Hank3's driving, formidable guitar attack, with instrumentation build around the auctioneering and, in some cases, his own higherregister vocal treatment laid over the top. Metal fans will notice some tongue-in-cheek humor with titles such as "Heavy Cattle" and "Angus of Death." Also, fans of bluegrass will love the banjo-driven "Cattle Callin Lonesome Blues," featuring Mason.

"I was raised around it [cattle auctioneering] and it's pretty amazing how fast these guys are," Hank3 says. "Hip-hop has looped auctioneers. Bluegrass has messed around with it a little bit. This has never been done in the heavy metal world."

The September release of all three projects represents a new birth for Hank3, and he's happy to have the chance.

"Megaforce Records has helped me with my vision to do something that's never been done before," he says. "They're handling my distribution, and I wanted to flood the market and do everything different. I wanted to come out of the gate strong.

"I'm opening up the mind a little bit and bringing some different styles together."

And in other news...July shows at Layla's Bluegrass Inn in Nashville are in the works - keep an eye on the Tour Section, once confirmed, they'll be posted.

Tour dates for November are being set up - check the Tour section for up to date info...more will be added as they are confirmed.

::: October 10, 2011 :::

LOS ANGELES, CA  (Monday, October 10, 2011) - Armed with an unprecedented three new albums - the double-country Ghost to a Ghost/Guttertown, the doom-rock Attention Deficit Domination, and the speed-metal Cattle Callin - that were released on September 6 through his very own, recently-launched record label Hank3 Records, Hank Williams III, now and forever to be known as Hank3, will kick off the second leg of his 2011 North American tour in Asheville, NC on Monday, November 7.  The three-plus-week trek will play primarily in east coast cities and will include a New York date, Brooklyn's Music Hall on November 15. For ticket purchasing information, log onto www.hank3.com.

This second leg of Hank3's two-year global trek follows the near-sold-out first leg, during which he provided one of the best values in live music with his two-and-a-half-plus hour shows.  One reviewer wrote, "It was one of the most energetic performances I've seen.  He covered material from ten different albums, spanning four genres, and hardly took a minute to breathe before railing off song after song."  There's nothing quite like a Hank3 concert where you'll see cowboys sporting Stetsons and punks with mohawks.  And with the singer's influences spanning country, punk and hard rock/metal, Hank3 is a musician who makes it OK for punks and metal heads to admit that they like country music.

"I've been off the road for awhile, and I'm looking' at two years of bein' full-on dedicated to goin' out there and doin' what we do," said Hank3.  "That's one of the reasons I wanted to release all of these albums at the same time, so I could just focus back on the touring again."

As his fans have come to expect, Hank3 will give everyone in attendance their money's worth by performing for anywhere from two-and-a-half to three-hour sets a night. The evening will open with a Country set, followed by a louder, rowdy Hellbilly set, culminating with a set featuring his new metal/doom band, Attention Deficit Domination.

"This is gonna be a little different for the fans who have been used to seein' Assjack for the last 10 years," Hank3 explained.  "Assjack was almost fast hardcore, and ADD is slow, Melvins, sleep-oriented doom rock.  So it's gonna be a lot different to see and feel, compared to what most people are used to seein' me do live."

All three of Hank3's new releases were recorded at The Haunted Ranch, Hank3's home and studio just outside of Nashville.  He wrote the bulk of the songs that appear on the 30-track Ghost to a Ghost/Guttertown, a straight-shooting country collection, flavored with Hank3's trademark Hellbilly sound, and heavily weighted with Cajun influence and an ambient, lonesome mood.  Ghost to a Ghost features guest appearances by Tom Waits, Alan King of Hellstomper, Les Claypool of Primus fame, Dave Sherman, Troy Medlin, and Hank3's dog, Trooper.  Attention Deficit Domination allows the listener into Hank3's crunching, metal world of the heavy and the slow, complete with his renowned, fundamental percussion.  The nine tracks hardly allow you to get up from the floor.  The 23-track Cattle Callin features Hank3's driving, formidable guitar attack, with instrumentation built around the auctioneering (provided by legendary auctioneers Mitch Jordan and Tim Dowler) and, in some cases, his own higher-register vocal treatment laid over the top.  You've never heard anything like it.

"I've always taken the hard road," he added.  "That's what makes us different and what gives the wide audience range of 14 to 80.  Cowboys, punks, metalheads, jocks, grandmas, and the average everyday person.  We bring them all together under the same roof.  That's what makes us proud.  That's what makes it worth it at the end of the day."

::: May 18, 2010 :::
Press Release:
Can’t seem to get your fill of Hank III-then have we got something for y’all!  Hank III is releasing his LAST record on Curb called “Rebel Within” on May 25th,  he and the Damn Band will then embark on their first tour of the Great White North, and to top it off, Hank has a song on the 3rd season opener of HBO’s “True Blood” (June 13th)!  Sink your teeth into that our Hellbilly Dysfunctional Family.

All you have to do is take one glance at a few of the song titles on Rebel Within - “Getting’ Drunk And Fallin’ Down,” “Rebel Within,” “Tore Up And Loud” and “Drinkin’ Over Mama”-- and you have a good idea who wrote them: HANK WILLIAMS III.
Nashville native Hank Williams III has built his musical brand around hard-hitting songs, an ornery Hellbilly attitude and a do-it-yourself ethos, as he wrote 10 of the album’s 11 original tracks, did the vocals, played drums and the acoustic rhythm guitar parts.  And he recorded and produced the album at his home studio.  “I don’t like being told what to do, and I don’t need to be told what my record should sound like,” says Hank.  “I got that covered.”

A progenitor of the Hellbilly movement, Hank III has released six albums since his 1999 debut, including 2008’s country/rock/metal Damn Right, Rebel Proud (of which Randy Lewis of the Los Angeles Times said, “…he careens from the stone country remorse of ‘I Wish I Knew’ to the psychobilly ode to the truck driving man of ‘H8 Line to the 10-minute, three-movement nose-thumbing epic “P.F.F.” offered in tribute to G.G. Allin”)  and 2009’s punk/metal-infused Assjack.  His refusal to confine himself to one musical genre is evident in his live performances, where he often does three-hour shows: he starts off with a country set, followed by a louder hillbilly set, which culminates with a set with his band Assjack.  “I give everybody some of what they came for,” says Hank.  “You can’t say I don’t work hard and give all I got.”
The 12-city Crazed Canada Tour launches Friday, June 4 at The Opera House in Toronto, ON and continues through the end of the month.  This event will be “an evening with”--no opener, just pure Hellbilly rage all night. The venture will take III's tour bus out to the West Coast for a Saturday, June 19th engagement in Vancouver, BC.

See Tour Section for all dates.

::: June 10, 2009 :::
Official Press Statement for the upcoming Assjack release:

Assjack--the death-metal metal band founded and fronted by Hank Williams III will release their first album of fully authorized music August 4 via Curb Records. Featuring tracks like “Redneck Ride,” “Wasting Away” and “No Regrets,” the self-titled album personifies the split in the psyche of the singer/guitarist/songwriter/producer who last year released the psych-country album Damn Right, Rebel Proud. While they’re two vastly different sonic experiences, both projects reflect the diverse musical interests of the self-professed “crazy fuck from Tennessee.” “Nowadays, there’s a whole group of people that love Waylon and David Allan Coe and love Pantera and Slayer-- there’s a whole breed of them out there,” says Hank III.

HIII will take both his “Damn” country band and ASSJACK out on the road beginning June 16 in Louisville, KY, with U.S. dates confirmed through July 15 in Knoxville, TN. For these shows, both the “Damn” band and ASSJACK will perform 45-minute sets, with a 15-minute changeover in-between.

For the ASSJACK album, Hank III performed, wrote and produced everything you hear. “Playing all the instruments and being involved with it that way helps keep me on my toes,” he says from his Nashville home. “One day it would be nice to have the band here in town where we can just jam, but most of my guys aren’t around, so I have to work harder.” He has also played drums for Arson Anthem and bass in Superjoint Ritual (featuring former Pantera singer Phil Anselmo).

For the live shows, Hank III is excited that more people are sticking around for the metal part. His reasoning? “Well, A: they’re either drunk and don’t want to go home or; B: maybe the fan base is getting younger possibly. We might be getting a few more metalheads with what I’ve done out there with Superjoint Ritual and playing in Arson Anthem. That’s probably a factor also and maybe they just wanna get their money’s worth. Hell, they spent $20 bucks for a ticket, why not see the whole show? It doesn’t matter if it’s five people or 500, they’re going to get the same show, same energy. Nothing will be different, every night when we do it, it’s a rollercoaster. We say hello after the show…we try to take care of our fans, because they take care of us.”

Never one afraid to go against what people expect of him, Hank III says he’s gotten strong--and sometimes violent--responses to his music. “It’s pretty surprising how the power of music can piss some people off. Growing up the way I had to, and some of the redneck bars I had to play in, they just think it’s complete disrespect to their establishment and to them--you know I can’t make everyone happy and it is what it is. It doesn’t matter if it’s the red neck that gets upset and thinks I’m pissing Hank Williams off, or the young kid that thinks I’m selling out by playing hard rock, which is totally…if I was selling out, I would be doing what a producer tells me and dressing up all pretty and only be doing country music--that’s how to make money. I just stuck with the hard road--that’s what makes us different and unique and gives the wide audience range from 14 to 80 out there…cowboys, punks, metalheads, jocks, grandmas and the average everyday person. We bring them all together under the same roof. That’s what makes us proud. That’s what makes it worth it at the end of the day.”

::: June 12, 2009 :::
III talks about Assjack:

--How do you write songs for Assjack rather than your country projects?

“It’s more jamming than anything else. It’s just turning up the electric guitar, hitting ‘record’ whenever there’s a riff and most of the time its just me jamming because I have to use drummers from everywhere else, but I just feel the riff and put it down and go with it man, trying to pick out some kind of a sound. That’s kind of the process, nothing really that complicated, just feeling it hitting her chord and seeing if it’s worth a damn.

“The lyrics are the last thing. Guitar first, drums second, bass and then vocals. That’s the way I stack it all up. Playing all the instruments and being involved with it that way helps keep me on my toes. One day it would be nice to have the band here in town where we can just jam, but most of my guys aren’t around, so I have to work harder.

“I’ve only worked with one producer, ever, but I know what I want to hear already and know what I’m going for. One day, I might work with a producer again but all of the records have been producer-free, except for This Ain’t Country [unreleased country album] which might see the light of day in four or five years.”

--You’ve done the dual country/metal concert sets and some people were shocked by the second part of the set but more of them are staying for the whole show. Why is that?

“Well, A: they’re either drunk and don’t want to go home or B: maybe the fan base is getting younger possibly. Nothing will be different. Every night when we do it, it’s a rollercoaster. We say hello after the show…we try to take care of our fans, because they take care of us.”

--You’ve had some harsh criticism/borderline violence from Country purists over the Assjack music.

“It’s pretty surprising how the power of music can piss some people off. Growing up the way I had to, and some of the redneck bars I had to play in, they just think it’s complete disrespect to their establishment and to them--you know I can’t make everyone happy and it is what it is. It doesn’t matter if it’s the redneck that gets upset and thinks I’m pissing Hank Williams off, or the young kid that thinks I’m selling out by playing hard rock, which is totally…if I was selling out, I would be doing what a producer tells me and dressing up all pretty and only be doing country music, that’s how to make money.

--Do you think the forefathers of Country music would embrace the punk/death-metal aspects and/or the outlaw spirit of this music?

“It’s hard to say, there’s always that loner theme, standing on your own two feet. Most country people are very religious people, and most death metal people are very satanic-oriented people, not all of them, but the majority of them, and that might be a little rift right there. Nowadays, there’s a whole group of people that love Waylon and David Allan Coe, and love Pantera and Slayer…there’s a whole breed of them out there. Bands like Lamb of God and all these other guys born in the South love different kinds of music. It’s a hard call. Some of those old Southern men are set in their ways and some of them are a little more open-minded. Can’t please everybody, and Scientology is now on Music Row. We’re moving on down the road now.”

--What do you do to mentally and/or physically to prepare the change-over from the Damn Band to Assjack between sets?

“Preparation goes into the show more before--that’s where all the mediation and breathing and stretching and getting prepared for the fight goes down. It’s not like I can just walk out there and do my show. I know guys that can do that but I’m not one of them. During the break, usually I just kneel down, take as many deep breaths as I can, stretch the back out and get ready to go out there and see the blurry vision or see the bright light when you start hammering it down man. It’s all just a natural progression, the whole show feels like the same kind of energy to me, it’s just with Assjack my vision gets a little more blurry and things get just a bit more intense. The big preparation is before the show. That’s where it all goes down I’m already for all sides of it when I hit the stage.

“I always have to fight for my voice. I had people, years ago, tell me “you’re not going to be able to do what you do and keep your voice.” So out of that, I have to breathe steam for an hour, I have to make weird sounds for two hours, like monks going ‘eeeeeeeeeeowwwww’ and push it out as long as I can. It’s just what I’ve gotta do. I’ve been around Ozzy on Ozzfest and hear him do his vocal exercises. Some of the guys care about doing a good show and want to have a good ‘head voice.’ That’s what I gotta do, man. I wish I could just say, ‘I’m just going to hang out and chill and raise hell all day and just walk out on the stage.’ But it ain’t like that for me, it’s a total process. You can tell whenever I don’t have my time—the voice is just a lot more hoarse and sometimes it’s gone when I don’t get to try to wake it up.”

--If the Damn Band and Assjack got in a fight, who would win?

“The Damn Band would be five against two. The only two guys in Assjack are Gary and my drummer, so the odds would probably be for the Damn band. That’s the deal.”

Recently, a meeting of the outlaws took place in Paris TN for the filming of "The Wild and Wonderful Whites". White family friend and Producer Storm Taylor has teamed up with Director Julien Nitzburg (The Wild World of Hasil Atkins) to make a documentary about the legendary Jesco White and his family. "We have been following the family for about a year now. As you can imagine...It has been quiet a ride. I felt that that there was absolutely no way that we could truly complete this project without the support and music from Hank 3" said Storm Taylor in a recent interview. After a few months of planning, Hank III had a brief afternoon entertaining the cast and crew at his Nashville home. He then took the crew to a more rural setting....as Hank Jr. played host to what can be called a 'once in a lifetime' weekend. "Just imagine a cabin, some beer, a pig roast, 4 wheelers, a pond, Hank III, Hank Jr, and Jesco White all rolled up into a big Hellbilly weekend ball...unimagineable" Storm said.

'"The Wild and Wonderful Whites" is scheduled to be released in early 09' for MTV Films. The documentary will feature a wide variety of music, including local West Virginia artists....and Hank III (of course).

For updates on additional filming and information about "The Wild and Wonderful Whites" please vist Storm's Myspace.

::: August 21, 2008 :::
Thrasher Magazine recently interviewed III and will publish the article in their next issue, which will be available at magazine racks on 9/8.

In other news, here is the official press release for Damn Right Rebel Proud from Mitch Schneider Organization :

Don’t look for any apologies on Damn Right Rebel Proud, the upcoming album from Hank Williams III. Filled with a self-described “Jekyll and Hyde” mix of disturbingly dark stuff and “good ol’ country,” the straight-talkin’ third-generation rebel’s new album is set for release October 21 via Sidewalk Records.

The first single is the mutated truckers’ tune “Long Hauls & Close Calls,” for which a video has been shot. III thinks of it as the album’s “crossover” track, explaining that “It’s got a little bit of the scream for the kids in black and a little bit of the banjo and dobro for the country folks.”

Damn Right Rebel Proud follows the fierce and edgy Straight to Hell (2006), which broke all the rules of country music while still managing to honor its traditions. “That was a big one for me, man,” III says of STH. “Rock kids that don’t listen to country understood it. That record really had an impact.”

The new album honors tradition here and there. “Wild & Free” has a rollicking, Buck Owens flavor; ”Me & My Friends” is “a standard, good ol’ country song;” the populist anthem “If You Can’t Help Your Own” addresses what’s goin’ on right now with the government;” and the closing “Workin’ Man,” a duet with the tune’s author, writer/artist/construction worker Bob Wayne, sounds like an Alan Lomax field recording from the 1930s.

Recorded in III’s east Tennessee home with friends over a two-week period, the album’s magnum opus is the 10-minute, shitkickin’ symphony in three movements “P.F.F.” (you can guess what it stands for), which he describes as “a high-energy, get-drunk singalong.” He dedicates it to archetypal shock rocker G.G. Allin (certainly a first on a Nashville album), who III understandably views as a spiritual brother in chaos. “The hobo kids, the train-hopping kids, they all love Hank Williams and G.G. Allin,” he points out. “And they’ve bled into our audience.” III’s crowd is a roiling mix of outsider subcultures, along with working folks and party-down college kids. “Most of the time everybody’s gettin’ along,” he says. “Most of the trouble we’ve had has been with the security, not the kids. I’m still tryin’ to keep one half happy and the other half satisfied by flip-floppin’ the shows” between stone country, punk and metal sets. “We’re just doin’ what we’re doin’, and people see the realness in that.”

There’s some disturbingly dark stuff on here, like “3 Shades of Black,” which climaxes with a bloodcurdling horror-core scream, and “Stoned & Alone,” III’s corrosive take on a cryin’-in-your-beer country ballad, aches like a hangover after a three-day bender. “My dad’s version of that song would be ‘The Pressure Is On,’” he says. “I still live for the road; I don’t live for a lady – I guess that’s part of the problem.”

But if you want really dark, check out “Candidate for Suicide.” “All the things I’m talkin’ about in that song – the rape, the drug abuse and feelin’ on the outskirts of life, as G.G. would say – that’s all true,” he acknowledges. “But just because you’re a candidate doesn’t mean you’re gonna go through with it. I’ve got no respect for anyone who tries to take the easy way out. Unless you can’t take care of yourself or stuff like that, I’m always standin’ for you to hold onto life as much as you can. There’s a huge amount of depression out there, and that’s really what the song’s about. ‘Candidate for Suicide’ is dark, but it’s not sayin’ do it; it’s just talkin’ about how it crosses your mind a good bit.”

Despite various rumors on other websites - the (hopefully) upcoming Hank III CD, tentatively titled, Damn Right and Rebel Proud, DOES NOT have a current release date. Quite simply, it is unfortunately tied up in the court system. If there is an official date, or announcement - it will be posted here.

The self-titled debut EP of Arson Anthem will be released February 19 to select music stores and online sites via Housecore Records; a label created by Philip Anselmo. Arson Anthem consists of Anselmo (Pantera, Down, Superjoint Ritual) on guitar, Mike Williams (Eyehategod) on vocals, Collin Yeo on Bass, and on drums is none other than Hank III.

Track List:
01. Year Of The Fork
02. Doomed Morale
03. Bunker Life
04. Hammer Them Out
05. Wrecked Like Clockwork
06. Cops Shoot Coke
07. The Avoider
08. Sri Lankan Medication

Arson Anthem plays scathing hardcore punk in the vein of their forefathers Discharge, Void, Hellhammer, Black Flag, Heresy, and Minor Threat. It's fast, it's nasty, and it's VERY pissed off. Arson Anthem introduce the listener to painful amplification, raw production, and a true "fuck-all" attitude. Check out the band's official myspace page and the Housecore Records site for more info.
